The more people who say that they would not want to have different races as neighbors, the less racially tolerant and the fewer people saying they would not want to have different races as neighbors, the more racially tolerant. While this is not a perfect measurement as the Washington Post article points out, all the same it should be at least directionally correct. Below is the ranking of Asian countries that were measured from most racially tolerant to least racially tolerant. Note that the data is directly from the World Values Survey page and doesn't match the Washington Post map precisely in every case: Country %intolerant of other races Singapore 5.8% Taiwan 9.6% Japan 10.6% China 15.5% Malaysia 20.6% Philippines 21.0% Hong Kong 26.8% Thailand 27.2% Bangladesh 28.3% Indonesia 30.7% South Korea 33.5% Vietnam 35.1% India 43.5% Note: Canada scored 2.9%, the US scored 3.8%, Australia scored 4.2%, and the UK scored 4.9% on this same survey.
